Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized branch of physical therapy designed to address a spectrum of vestibular disorders and their associated symptoms, which may encompass dizziness, vertigo, balance impairments, postural abnormalities, and visual disturbances. The vestibular system is comprised of components within the inner ear and the brain that interpret sensory information essential for the regulation of balance and eye movements. When disease or injury impairs these processing areas, individuals may experience vestibular disorders. Such disorders can also stem from genetic or environmental factors or manifest without a clearly discernible cause.

The most frequently diagnosed vestibular disorders encompass benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), labyrinthitis, vestibular neuritis, and Ménière’s disease. Additional vestibular conditions include acoustic neuroma, enlarged vestibular aqueduct, and migraine-associated vertigo. Vestibular dysfunction can further be influenced by factors such as aging, autoimmune disorders, and allergies.

At PTHC, we are equipped with a team of skilled Physical Therapists proficient in the treatment of various vestibular conditions. We recognize the profound impact that vestibular dysfunctions can have on an individual’s quality of life. Therefore, our foremost objective is to provide prompt and efficient resolutions to these challenges. In cases where complete resolution may not be feasible, we collaborate closely with the patient’s medical team to devise effective strategies for the management of chronic conditions, ensuring that patients can regain a sense of control and improved well-being.
